Get a +971 UAE Number for Your Business After Understanding the Format

Every country has a unique country phone code. The "+971" is the country code for the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Telephone numbers in the UAE include a country code, an area code or mobile prefix, and a local subscriber number. In this blog, we will explore the format of a UAE phone number and what each part signifies.

A typical UAE phone number written for international use looks like this: +971 50 123 4567 (mobile) or +971 4 234 5678 (Dubai landline). Inside the UAE, the same numbers are often written with a leading zero: 050 123 4567 or 04 234 5678. When calling or publishing the number abroad, drop that leading zero and use +971.

To summarize, the UAE phone number format is: +971 (country code) + area code or mobile prefix + 7-digit subscriber number. These examples are illustrative. Aancall is a business cloud phone system provider serving the USA, UK, Australia, Singapore, UAE, and India.

How UAE Phone Numbers Are Structured

The UAE uses country code +971 for all emirates, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Ras Al Khaimah. Unlike the USA, UAE landlines use a one-digit emirate area code (such as 4 for Dubai or 2 for Abu Dhabi), not a 3-digit area code.

Inside the UAE, callers dial a trunk prefix 0 before the area code or mobile prefix. From outside the UAE, you replace that with +971 and remove the leading 0. For example, local Dubai number 04 234 5678 becomes +971 4 234 5678 internationally.

When you publish a UAE number on a website, email signature, or business card for global customers, the clearest format is E.164: +971 followed by the full national number without the leading zero.

UAE toll-free numbers starting with 800 are free for callers inside the UAE. From outside the UAE, dialing a 800 number may not connect or may be charged as a normal international call. Many businesses publish a standard +971 landline or mobile number alongside their 800 line for international callers.

Other common UAE mobile prefixes include 052, 054, 055, 056, and 058 (Etisalat, du, and Virgin Mobile UAE).
